How to find a Therapist in Dallas, Texas [part I]

It can be difficult to find a therapist who is a good fit for you, especially in the sea of mental health professionals. The first step in looking for a new therapist is taking some time to determine what you want your therapy experience to look like. Do you want to meet your therapist virtually in the comfort of your own home, or in person? Do you want a couples therapist, or do you want to do individual work? Do you want to do a deep dive of self discovery, or talk about a current issue? Are you ready to invest time and effort that it takes to talk about deeper issues, or are you wanting something brief?

Asking yourself these questions will help you get clarity on which therapists can be a good fit for you!

After you have taken the time to think about what you want, its time to start doing your research. Using therapist directories like Psychology Today, Therapy Den, Therapy for Black girls, and Inclusive Therapists is a great way to help you narrow down your search. I always suggest that potential clients find three therapists that they are interested in to help them hone in on who would be a good fit.

Take your time and use the filters on the directories to help you get specific on what you are looking for in a therapist, this will help you find your top 3. Once you have your top 3 therapists, you are so much closer to starting your therapy journey and embarking upon a path of healing. Stay tuned for part two to help you get clarity on how to find your top 3 therapists and learn more about what questions to ask them.
